Welcome to Year 3
Year 3 is made up of three classes: Aslan, Griffin and Centaur
Year 3 have chosen the Chronicles Of Narnia as their theme. Many children enjoy reading The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. It is the most famous book by CS Lewis. There are six more books in The Chronicles of Narnia series. The Narnia books have been translated into over 45 languages. CS Lewis is the creator of this series and you can also enjoy the adventures in both films and on TV too.
His most famous stories are for children, about the fantasy world of Narnia. Lewis wrote serious books for adults too.
Lewis was born in Northern Ireland in 1898. He studied at Oxford University in England. He was a soldier in World War I (1914-1918). For most of his life, he worked as a professor in Oxford and Cambridge. He married in 1957, and died in 1963.
Every child should be proud to call themselves a member of Year 3.
People have different ideas about the order you should read the seven Narnia books. CS Lewis told someone that when he wrote The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, he didn't know he was going to write any more Narnia books. So perhaps it doesn't matter!
Being in Year 3 class means you are not only strong, but more importantly good, you set the tone that others follow and you are always ready to help and support your fellow pupils. Every child should be proud to call themselves a member of Year 3. As the year progresses you will become stronger and more independent as you follow the example set by the ‘King of Narnia’ and the other characters. You will become more confident and will always work hard to prove that you are the best that you can be. By the end of the year, all the children in Year 3 shall be truly ready for their next adventure in Year 4.
